@Mac.com/@Me.com - The Email address fun begins…

mobile-me.jpg
As you should know by now, when MobileMe is launched in July, all existing .Mac subscribers will have both an @Mac and an @Me email address.

It struck me during the announcement just how many entertaining email addresses could arise from the @Me.com suffix.

So, being me, I bought an additional .Mac email only account and tried my luck.

For those remotely interested, most of these usernames are currently unavailable:

New ads are always a winner

Apple has added some new adverts to their “Get a Mac” campaign.  Very funny.

Check them out at http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/

We love the way they batter the life out of Windows and Microsoft. And they’re even funnier because its all true…

iTunes on top

itunes.jpg

There are a few news stories floating around the web that have announced iTunes as the single largest outlet for music sales in the US.

Although many analysts believe the results that came in over Christmas were a spike caused by new iPod owners redeeming gift certificates that came with their new pressies, it looks like it wont be that long before Apple hits the top of the charts legitimately.

Apple claim to have caused the digital music revolution with the creation of iTunes and the iPod and surely the emergence of iTunes as the biggest outlet for music will surely be the last nail in the coffin for using physical media to buy and play music?

Will there be a hardcore of CD lovers who will perpetuate the medium, much as there is for vynil or will it pretty much die out like the cassette tape?

Its going to be an interesting year in that sense, and I can’t make up my mind as to whether this is a good thing or not. On the one hand I hardly ever use CD’s choosing instead to get new music from iTunes and on the other hand, unless there is a decent rival to iTunes or something is done about DRM then we could all be held to ransom by Mr Jobs and the iTunes machine…

Another day has ended

Smug Ben and his iPhone. He may take some pride in being the first to post from his cool phone but he paid for his and I, being the super cool dude that I am, did not.

That makes me the real winner….

Ben’s Blogging Blank

Weeks of excitement leading up to the new iCreate blog and I can’t think of a thing to say…   Fear not, dear blog-lover. We’ll come up with something.  As I write this, Jimmy “Global” Hayes is furiously tapping away at his keyboard trying to beat me to first blog post and also upload a particularly awful photo of me he took in London.    As I always say, “Slow and steady wins the race”. In years to come when we look back at our first posts, he’ll kick himself for rushing with all the spelling errors and obscurely structured sentences. If, by some miracle however, he provides a flawless and typo free post, I have the power, as editor, to head back into the blog and make some changes or delete the thing entirely. So I’ll always have the last laugh!  Slow and steady wins the race. Slow, steady and with admin privileges rules the blog.

Welcome to the Blog

Welcome to the the brand new shiny and exciting iCreate Blog, where you can expect to get some massively awesome content from myself Jimmy Hayes and Editor Ben Harvell.

Over the coming minutes, days, months and years we will evolve the Blog in the same way we took our fledgling podcast and converted it from a rambling mish-mash of ideas into the extremely well polished chart topper that currently resides on iTunes.

Anyway, I’ve made the first post so I am the King!

Here is a picture of Ben Harvell, the iCreate editor looking his best as we returned from the iTunes Live sessions event at Air studios in London. Keep an eye on the blog to see more about this event….
